What is neem?

How does Neem deter head lice?

Neem Oil contains substances which mimic insect hormones - called 'ecdysones'. These substances give 'mixed messages' to the head lice, consequently depressing feeding, breeding, and metamorphosis. These messages also prevent unhatched eggs from developing & hatching. This approach also avoids the development of resistance in future generations. Exposing head lice to Neem results in a gradual weakening of their 'will to live'. After a short period of time the problem will subside.
